II. REORGANIZATION
Superintendent Gradone called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. at the Eastham Elementary School. A motion was made by Joanna Stevens, seconded by Sean Fleming, and voted unanimously to postpone reorganization until more school committee members can be present. Superintendent Gradone said the committee would have to elect a pro tem chair for this meeting. A motion was made by Sean Fleming, seconded by Wendy Frazier, and voted unanimously to elect Joanna Stevens Pro Tem Chair for this evening’s meeting. Ms. Stevens assumed the chair and indicated there were no agenda changes.

VI. PRIORITY BUSINESS
Administrators’ Reports
Mrs. Helman referred the Committee to her May 26, 2009 written Principal’s Report. She discussed literacy and assessments, DIBELS, MAZE; writing benchmark testing; attendance; and student math progress. She announced that Dr. Hoffmann had visited the school. He would like to meet with the committee in July just to begin establishing the lines of communication. Mrs. Newmier will poll committee members for a compatible date and time.
Community Visioning Process
Ms. Stevens introduced Ms. Sky Freyss-Cole who had been invited to the meeting to discuss her project at Wellfleet Elementary School. The project is the culmination of her college studies in Denmark. Ms. Freyss-Cole gave the committee a handout that summarized the recent community gathering to create a shared vision for Wellfleet Elementary School. She said she was grateful for the opportunity to work in her home town. Supt. Gradone said that Dr. Hoffmann had attended the May 8th meeting, liked what he saw, and he would continue to support the project. The committee discussed beginning a similar project in Eastham. Ms. Freyss-Cole said she would be interested in helping Eastham begin a similar process.
Grade 3-5 Progress Reports
Assistant Superintendent Gail Briere gave the committee copies of the new Grades 3, 4, and 5 Student Progresss Reports along with a PowerPoint presentation outlining how the reports were developed. Mrs. Shaw, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. O’Connor were the Eastham teachers on the committee who helped develop the new reports. The progress reports will be used beginning in the fall.
School Improvement Plan
Principal Helman said the Plan is similar to the previous plan. It is focused on the Learning Environment, Literacy, Mathematics, Science, History/Social Studies, IT, and Wellness. A motion was made by Wendy Frazier, seconded by Sean Fleming, and voted unanimously to accept the 2009-2011 School Improvement Plan as presented.

V. REPORTS AND INFORMATION
Cape Cod Collaborative
Mr. Fleming said the recent Collaborative meeting discussed transportation issues; the accelerated program for older children at Mass Maritime; and, Mr. Healey’s departure.
VI. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Wendy Frazier and seconded by Joanna Stevens to approve the minutes of April 28, 2009 as printed. Yes – 2 Abstain – 1 (Fleming)
VII. PAYMENT OF BILLS
Mrs. Frazier asked about the leak in the roof. Mrs. Helman said it was around a skylight. Supt. Gradone suggested Mrs. Burt consult with Mr. Lewis at the high school.
VIII. ADJOURNMENT
It was moved, seconded, and voted unanimously to adjourn at 7:45 p.m.
